Self-Regulation Series Episode 1: The Science of Stress
September 5, 2018 No Comments Blog, Caregiver Articles rebecca@wildrosecaregivers.com

At Wild Rose Caregivers we like to think of ourselves as “stress detectives”.  We believe that every behaviour is a way of communicating something.

To learn about how stressors can affect the way that people react to different situations, we first have to understand ourselves.

Dr. Stuart Shanker founded the Mehrit Centre and developed a course to learn all about self regulation.  Our very own Gary Berge has gone through all of the training courses and has received his certification.

Gary wanted to share with all of us the basic principles surrounding self regulation.  He has developed a 13 part video series which we will present here on the blog weekly.  You can also subscribe to our YouTube channel to get notified before anyone else when the new episode is published!

Each video will require the viewer to create their own “stress inventory” and to continue to add to it throughout the series.  All materials provided come from the Mehrit Centre and the Foundations 2 participants.

Our first episode is all about “The Science of Stress”.

  • The Triune Brain
  • Fight, Flight or Freeze
  • What happens when the body is in limbic response?
  • What happens when you experience continued stress?
  • The multiplying effect of stressors

Please like and subscribe.  Remember to “ring the bell” to receive notifications when the new episodes are published.
